ComEd’s herd of goats proved that they could work hard and play hard.
For four weeks, more than200 goats worked together to eat their way through vegetation under ComEd power lines in Pekin., Ill., which helps reduce the chance of power outages that trees and brush can cause.
Because of their diligence and commitment to reclaim the land, the goats were treated by ComEd to their own #HotGoatSummer with a boat cruise down Chicago’s Riverwalk. The goats kicked baaaaack, took in the sights and seized the hay.
It’s amazing what a day off can do. When they returned to finish their jobs, they were unstoppable. I kid you not, throughout the four weeks, the goats chewed through almost 20 acres of land!

For the third year, these four-legged employees didn’t let us down and proved to be a safer and greener way to help keep energy reliable. They also cut the time required to clear the vegetation by more than half. Not baaaaad for a herd of goats!
